Puppy Love
"Our first rescue was little
Judy, a seven-year old Maltese. Judy had had a rough life, including two
caesarian sections and teeth rotting out. At the same time we rescued
Gracie, a 12 lb. beautiful Shih Tzu. Gracie was two years old,
only a kid compared to Judy. During this period we met Mary Harrigan
and agreed to be Maltese foster parents. One day we got a phone call
from Mary asking us if we could foster a young male Maltese named
Puppy. We said "sure". That weekend Mary came to our house
Puppy in arm. Now you have to picture the scene. Judy having been
through all that she’s been through in addition to her age was
hardly an apt playmate for Gracie who is still very playful.
Into the center of this is dropped the indomitable Puppy, full of life
and energy, who knows nothing but the joy of running back and forth
and is constantly ready and ever vigilant to run up to investigate and
meet any new challenge. Judy was unfazed at the youngster and not
interested in playing. Ah, but Gracie, now there’s a different
story. It was love at first sight! You might even call it "Puppy
Love". The two of them hit it off immediately. We knew he was
here to stay. Before Puppy arrived Gracie had no one to play with. Now
the two of them are inseparable. But more than this something very
special happened when Pup came to stay with us, now our family was
complete. Pup is an amazing watchdog. But the remarkable thing is
watching how Pup has really come back from being on the skittish side
and now is a wonderfully and remarkably loving lap dog, whose bravery
and bravado are only exceeded by his gentleness."
